I've been experimenting with different linux distributions this year and have found the quality of software I have tried to be very impressive. From this experience, I've decided to create tutorials for people interested in taking the leap from Windows into Linux.
All the tutorials I've created are based on PClinuxOS. Of all the linux distributions I've tried, it seemed that this one was the easiest to setup and use. I also found the PClinuxOS forum to be exceptionally quick & helpful.
The initial part of these tutorials are to assist you with getting started. They'll help you understand the preparations needed to take before committing yourself fully to linux and also the steps for installing.
The steps are listed as follows:
- Creating & Testing A PClinuxOS LiveCD
- Preparations for Linux - what programs do you need and what to back up
- Backing Up your Internet Favorites or Bookmarks
- Backing up Outlook Express - move files to Thunderbird Email Client for universal file transfer
- Backing up Thunderbird - preparations of emails for Linux
